Plastic Surgery in Maryland - Open Wound Care Instructions

We want you to be prepared for plastic surgery in Maryland at our Plastic Surgery Services center. Read the list of supplies below to ensure that you will be prepared pre- and post- plastic surgery in Maryland.

SUPPLIES NEEDED (AVAILABLE AT PHARMACY)

•  BACITRACIN (ANTIBIOTIC OINTMENT)
•  GAUZE (EITHER 2X2 OR 4X4)
•  TAPE

INSTRUCTIONS:

•  REMOVE DRESSING TOMORROW
•  AFTER DRESSING IS GENTLY REMOVED LIBERALLY APPLY BACITRACIN INTO THE OPEN WOUND
•  COVER WOUND WITH CLEAN DRY GAUZE

4. REPEAT THIS PROCESS 3 TIMES PER DAY UNTIL YOUR RETURN VISIT

Use only NON-ASPIRIN pain relievers, such as Tylenol, as needed.

If bleeding occurs, apply firm, constant pressure with a gauze pad for 30 CONTINUOUS minutes. DO NOT lift gauze to check before 30 minutes elapses. It should stop.
