So, Does Platelet Rich Plasma Actually Help Biostimulate Your Skin? Studies Say Yes!
Platelet rich plasma (PRP) therapy has been used in healthcare for years, but you’ve likely been hearing more and more about it lately—and how it can do wonders for your skin.
When it comes to skincare products and treatments, it’s normal (and smart) to be skeptical of solutions that promise great results with minimal commitment. But according to a recent study in the Dermatologic Surgery Journal, PRP therapy does in fact noticeably improve skin texture, elasticity, smoothness, and barrier function.
The results: PRP can improve signs of aging in just a few treatments
Twelve women between the ages of 45-65 underwent three PRP therapy treatments spaced one month apart. During each treatment, PRP was administered to the forehead, crow’s feet area, cheeks, and nasolabial folds.
Results were measured one month after the final treatment—and they showed significant improvement. All of the women had smoother, softer skin that had a marked increase in elasticity. Simply, their skin looked and felt younger.
