Kybella is a new, minimally invasive injectable option for reducing fullness under the chin without surgery, anesthesia, or excessive downtime—and it is the first and only nonsurgical injectable treatment approved by the FDA to contour and improve the appearance of submental fullness. Kybella is largely composed of a non-human or animal formulation of deoxycholic acid, a naturally occurring molecule that helps your body absorb and break down fat. When deoxycholic acid is injected into moderate to severe pockets of submental fat, it targets and destroys fat cells, effectively reducing fat and preventing the cells from accumulating or storing fat in the future. When expertly administered, Kybella does not impact surrounding tissues.

What is PRO-NOX?
Often called “laughing gas,” nitrous oxide helps patients feel calmer during treatment. PRO-NOX is a self-administered system delivering nitrous oxide and oxygen through a mouthpiece, working within seconds. The effects wear off quickly, allowing you to stay in control and return to normal activities shortly after treatment.

Once you and Dr. Garazo have met and determined that Kybella will provide you with your desired results, you’ll be ready for your first treatment.
How Many Treatments?
You will have up to six Kybella treatment sessions spaced at least one month apart. Most patients are satisfied with their results after two to four treatments.

How many Kybella treatments are needed?
Most patients need two to four treatments to achieve their desired result, although some individuals may require up to six sessions depending on the amount of fat beneath the chin.
Is Kybella permanent?
Yes. Kybella permanently destroys the fat cells treated beneath the chin. Once these cells are eliminated, they cannot store fat again, although weight gain may affect surrounding tissues.
Is Kybella a substitute for liposuction?
Kybella is best suited for moderate submental fullness. Patients with significant skin laxity or larger fat deposits may benefit more from surgical treatments such as neck liposuction or a neck lift.
How long does swelling last after Kybella?
Swelling is common after treatment and may last several days. In some cases, swelling can persist longer depending on the amount of medication used and individual healing response.
