Using fat harvested from your own body, board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Henry Garazo can augment your lips, treat facial folds and creases, and restore volume to your mid-face to create a plumper, more youthful facial look.

What to expect from a fat injection procedure

How it works

For this procedure, Dr. Garazo uses a liposuction technique to extract a small amount of fat from your hips, abdomen, buttocks, or another area. The fat is prepared and then injected into the treatment area, adding volume and softness. Using your own tissue offers the advantage of natural-looking results and the impossibility that your body will reject the injected tissue.

“Great Surgeon, and his staff was, were, and are very professional, caring, and attentive. He took very good care of my fiancée, made her feel good about her self, the end result is speaks for itself. She’s very happy. There’s no doubt why he has been the best surgeon in the tri state area for multiple consecutive years.”

The fat injections that Dr. Garazo administers offer facial rejuvenation in an outpatient procedure performed under local or light general anesthesia. You can generally return home within hours after treatment, and the results typically last 2–5 years.

  • Natural-Looking Results: Fat injections use the patient’s own fat, resulting in more natural-looking enhancements compared to synthetic fillers or implants.
  • Improves Facial Volume: Fat grafting can restore lost volume to areas like the cheeks, temples, and under the eyes, creating a more youthful and refreshed appearance.
  • Enhances Body Contours: Beyond facial rejuvenation, fat injections can enhance body contours, such as augmenting the buttocks (Brazilian Butt Lift) or correcting contour irregularities.
  • Reduces Signs of Aging: By adding volume, fat injections can diminish the appearance of wrinkles, folds, and creases, contributing to a smoother, younger-looking skin surface.
  • Lower Risk of Allergic Reaction: Since the procedure uses the patient’s own fat, there is a significantly lower risk of allergic reactions compared to synthetic fillers.
  • Dual Benefit of Liposuction: Fat grafting requires harvesting fat from another area of the body, offering the dual benefit of reducing unwanted fat while enhancing another area.
  • Adipose Tissue: The medical term for body fat, which is harvested during liposuction and processed for injection into other areas of the body for augmentation or rejuvenation.
  • Autologous Fat Transfer: A procedure that involves transferring fat from one part of the patient’s body to another, using the patient’s own fat cells for cosmetic or reconstructive purposes.
  • Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL): A popular cosmetic procedure that involves fat injections to enhance the size and shape of the buttocks, offering a more pronounced and voluptuous appearance.
  • Fat Grafting: Another term for fat injections or autologous fat transfer, where fat is harvested from one area of the body, purified, and then injected into another area to add volume or correct deformities.
  • Harvesting: The process of collecting adipose tissue, typically through liposuction, from a donor site on the patient’s body for use in fat grafting procedures.
  • Liposuction: A cosmetic procedure used to remove excess fat from specific areas of the body, such as the abdomen, thighs, or hips, which can also serve as the first step in the fat injection process.
  • Microfat Grafting: A technique in fat transfer that involves injecting very small amounts of purified fat into the treatment area, often used for delicate areas like the face for more precise volume enhancement.
  • Nanofat Grafting: A refined fat grafting technique where the fat is further processed to a smoother, more liquid consistency, used primarily for skin rejuvenation and improving skin texture.
  • Reabsorption: The process by which some of the injected fat cells are metabolized and absorbed by the body over time, which can affect the longevity of fat injection results.
  • Stem Cells: Cells present in adipose tissue that have the potential to improve skin quality and aid in the healing process, believed to contribute to the benefits of fat grafting beyond mere volume enhancement.
  • Structural Fat Grafting: A fat injection technique focused on restoring volume to larger areas or creating more defined contours by strategically placing larger volumes of fat.
  • Touch-Up Procedure: Additional fat injection sessions that may be necessary to achieve or maintain the desired outcome, accounting for the natural reabsorption of some fat.
